Merry
Christmas and Season's Greetings to you and your Family from
all of us at Arcis
In keeping with the spirit of giving, Arcis made a $1,000
donation to the Salvation Army to assist the
homeless during the
Christmas season. The donation was made on behalf of our
valued clients, in lieu of Christmas cards. We wish you and
your loved ones all the best in 2007.

Improving AVO Fidelity by NMO Stretching and Offset
Dependent Tuning Correction
By Yong Xu and
Satinder Chopra
Wavelet stretching due to NMO correction of seismic gathers causes problems in AVO. Coupled with the degrading action of wavelet stretching during NMO correction is offset dependent tuning for thin beds. Even though tuning is inherent in the data before NMO correction, its effect on AVO is more obvious on NMO corrected data. Studies have been carried out for an analytical understanding of NMO stretching and thin-bed tuning and their correction to improve AVO fidelity. Based on these studies, we have implemented the NMO stretching and thin-bed tuning corrections in a practical fashion for production AVO analysis. Both synthetic and real data examples show that these corrections are necessary for performing reliable AVO analysis.

Is there Oil and Gas in the
Nechako Basin, South Central British Columbia?
Arcis and Geoscience BC
have partnered on an initiative to
encourage new activity in the Intermontaine Basins of British
Columbia. This includes the signing of a
definitive agreement in which Geoscience
BC has acquired the rights to
seismic data from the Nechako Basin acquired by
Canadian Hunter Exploration in the early
1980s. Concurrent to this announcement, Geoscience BC and Arcis are entering
into an agreement whereby Arcis will
assume responsibility for reprocessing,
marketing and management of the seismic
data.
Reprocessing of the data has
commenced and to date significant
improvement in subsurface imaging has
been recognized. If you would like details of the current proposal and
future plans for uncovering the
potential of these new basins, you can
contact Arcis (403.781.1700) or Geoscience BC.

less than 2.0 LTCs per 100 person
years, a LTC rate of 40% better than
our industry's LTC rate, no LTCs in the most recent 120
consecutive person years of
employment, and no more than one
additional LTC per additional 120
person years.
- No workplace related fatalities
- No outstanding compliance orders
under the Alberta Occupational
Health and Safety (OHS) Act and no
