The Republic of Hungary is situated in Central Europe. It is a member of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), the other members of this group include Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovenia. It is also a member of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Hungarian energy sector is highly fragmented, largely dependent on natural gas, crude oil and nuclear energy. Nuclear energy plays a crucial role in electricity generation. Due to insufficient resources to meet country’s demands, Hungary is mostly dependent on imports of energy resources.
